Jessica Rodrigues
Assistant Professor, Special Education
Dr. Rodrigues is an assistant professor in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Missouri. She is the Director of the Mathematics Potential Lab. She is the Principal Investigator on two National Science Foundation (NSF) grants—one of which is an NSF CAREER award.
Lindsey Mirielli
Ph.D. Student, Special Education
Lindsey is a 3rd year doctoral student studying Special Education – Behavior Disorders. She is originally from Columbia and received her undergraduate degree from Mizzou. Before returning to continue her education, she worked as a high school special education teacher. Her research focuses on social skills instruction in the secondary setting.
Shannon Locke
Ph.D. Student, Special Education
Shannon is a Special Education Ph.D student at Mizzou with over 25 years of experience in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She established Autism Outfitters, LLC in 2017 to provide consultation, training, and advocacy for ASD. She is also currently teaching two courses in Special Education at Mizzou. She is intersted in researching ways to build communities of support for autistic individuals, Universal Design for Learning, evidence-based supportive strategies, and much, much more.
Emily Singell
Ph.D. Student, Special Education
Emily is originally from Indiana and received her Bachelor of Science and minor in Biology at Indiana University. She received her Master of Education in School Psychology from the University of Missouri in May 2022. Currently, she is a doctoral student within Special Education in the College of Education & Human Development. She is interested in exploring and developing evidence-based mathematics interventions for students with or who are at risk for mathematics difficulties.
Dani Davis
Undergraduate Research Assistant,
Special Education
Dani is a third year undergraduate student studying Special Education within the College of Education & Human Development and is pursuing a minor in History. She is originally from Waynesville, MO and graduated from Bolivar High School in Bolivar, MO. She is interested in researching the effect of role models on students with disabilities and the impact of peer interaction on the success of students with disabilities. Dani will graduate in May 2023 and plans on becoming an elementary Special Education teacher.
Kristin Moser
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Family Law
Kristin is an undergraduate student from a Chicago suburb, Hinsdale, studying Family Law. She has a passion in ensuring the importance of quality education in children's lives. Her research interests are focused in how to better equip school systems with resource and knowledge to better meet the individualized needs of students.
Kailey Gidley
Undergraduate Research Assistant,
Special Education
Kailey is a junior undergraduate student from Frankfort, IL, pursing a degree in Special Education and two minors, Psychology and Human Development & Family Sciences. She also plans on earning a certificate in Multicultural Studies. She is interested deciphering and applying the MPL's specific mathematics research to her future classroom! Kailey plans on pursuing further education after graduation and being a Special Education teacher.
Julia Loffredo

Julia is a third year undergraduate student, from Chicago, studying Special Education in the College of Education & Human Development. She is interested in researching ways to empower learners with disabilities and the powering of pursuing role models with disabilities for students with disabilities. After graduation, she plans on becoming an elementary Special Education teacher.
Erin Johlie
Undergraduate Research Assistant,
Special Education
Erin is a junior from Arlington Heights, Illinois in Mizzou's Special Education program. She has had previous experiences working with individuals with disabilities and came to Mizzou to become more involved in its community! She is interested in researching the academic performance of students with disabilities and their self-efficacy in multiple domains, specifically STEM. After graduating, she hopes to become a high school Special Education teacher.
